What a month! I’d finally been approved to lead a Rick Steves Spain-Portugal tour for the first time, while training a new assistant & breaking in a new bus driver as well. What could go wrong? 9/11 maybe?
That is a LONG story —enough for a separate post— but let’s focus on these photos. I hardly took any pics during the first tour because I was so busy & overwhelmed… if I’d realized how momentous that moment in time would be, I would have taken more photos.
Observations: The tour after 9/11 was the first time I’d been in Barcelona for La Mercè & had a blast… parading with gegants & witnessing a new record for castellers: a 9 x 3!
I loved finding the group photo in Segovia of those brave folks who travelled at that time. And of Nicolás, our fun & friendly bus driver. Final images are from the first time I witnessed the procession of Granada’s patron saint, the Virgen de las Angustias. It wouldn’t be my last!
