2016, travel, year in review
● Where was I? USA, Argentina, Japan, Spain, France, & Portugal.

It’s back! As always, I write this for personal reasons, but you’re welcome to revisit the past year with me. Sorry about no 2015 review but believe me, some things are better left unsaid 😉 It’s all más que bien ahora. The insane pace of 2016 makes a month-by-month summary impossible to write & even worse to read, so I’ve grouped events of the year into a few broad categories. Let’s go!

camera, collection, DMC-LX3, S30, S80, S95, DMC-LF1, Panasonic, Canon

I purchased my very first digital camera in January 2002, one month after a big economic crisis hit Argentina. How I wish I’d had that Canon PowerShot S30 during December 2001! Definitely low res by today’s standards, but what a fantastic camera. Unfortunately the lens jammed & rendered the camera useless. Over the years I upgraded to a Canon SuperShot G3 (still works, a brick of a camera), a Canon EOS Digital Rebel (left in Argentina), a Canon PowerShot S80 (might work if I could recharge it!), switched to a Panasonic DMC-LX3 (still around, probably my best camera ever), back to a Canon PowerShot S95 (basically fell apart piece by piece), then a Panasonic DMC-LF1 (dust got inside the lens but still ok). These days, I’m not sure if I should stick with Panasonic, go back to Canon, or try another brand altogether. Decisions, decisions…

2014, travel, year in review
● Where was I? Argentina, USA, UK, Jordan, Israel, Portugal, & Spain.

Welcome to the fifth edition of my year in review… I write this for personal reasons, but you’re welcome to revisit the past year with me. I’ll go out on a limb & say it. 2014 turned out to be one of the best years ever, in every regard except a major one. Let’s focus on the positive for now, shall we?

cádiz: exorcising demons

España, Spain, Cádiz, Plaza de San Antonio

First a little background…

Even as a child, I had a strong desire to travel. Interests in biology & chemistry pointed me to medical school… but that proved only to be a distraction in the long run. I remember wading through the foreign language section in Memphis libraries for albums in Russian (yeah, that long ago!), books in basic Hawaiian or whatever French material I could find. Yet at the age of 27, I’d only managed to go as far as the Bahamas, Canada & México. When my ex landed a job as Assistant Director for the University of Washington’s Spanish program in Cádiz, I was all for it. Finally an opportunity to go to Europe! The year was 1998, & I knew the experience would change my life.

personal: 2013 schedule

Schedule 2013

I’ve been busy the past week attempting to confirm dates & purchasing flights. While I’ve made progress, arranging three months of travel is always insane. Hopefully I’ll have time to write about my experiences along the way, but the reality is that work comes first. If I disappear from the internet from May to July, know I’m alive & well. Here’s where I’ll be…
